As I have shared in previous communications, Mines will be embarking on a project to modernize our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System is the information backbone for any university. Mines has been using Banner as our ERP since 2005 to process payments, secure and access student and employee information, plan, budget and much more. Since that implementation, our functional needs have evolved. Additionally, our organizational strategies require us to move forward with IT modernization, to embrace cloud computing, cloud-first philosophies and data center approaches, as well as developing strong partnerships toward ensuring we continue to thrive and remain competitive to attract the top students and talent. We have selected Workday along with other Colorado Universities to replace our Banner ERP and SIS (Student Information System). Along with modernizing our technology, it will be important for Mines to identify and address resource needs or skills gaps to ensure we can move successfully forward together as a community. This project will kick-off in August with Phase 1: Human Capital, Payroll, and Finance Modules with a projected go-live of July 2022. Phase 2 will start in 2022/2023 and it will be a 2-3 years project to move to Student modules with a projected go-live of 2024/2025 academic year. We will continue using Banner as our Student Information System (SIS) until we migrate to Workday Student. Because this is a large and complex project with many moving parts, we have put together a project website to share information with our stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of the project. To access the website, you can login to Trailhead and you will see a menu item on the left named Workday ERP Modernization Project that looks like this:.
Click on that menu item, and you will be taken to the project site where you can find information about the project, timeline, governance model, FAQs, Demo recordings and many more. If you are looking for information you can’t find, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will respond to your questions.
