ITS is streamlining Microsoft sign-on functionality and you will need to re-authenticate next Tuesday after 12pm.
ITS is undertaking our next step in streamlining Microsoft functionality by enabling Modern Authentication in Mines’ Microsoft 365 environment. On Tuesday, 9/29, at Noon, you will be prompted to re-authenticate for Outlook, OneDrive, MS Teams, and/or other MS 365 desktop applications you are using. You will see the same login process as you normally see for MS 365 applications. You will not lose any data in MS 365 desktop applications you are running.

Why is this transition happening now?
Microsoft is disabling traditional authentication and moving all customers to modern authentication.

What is modern authentication?
It is an umbrella term for a combination of authentication and authorization methods between a client (for example, a laptop or Smartphone) and a server, as well as some security measures that rely on specific access policies.

Will I have to do this every time I log in to MS 365 desktop applications?
No, you will not. This will only happen once after the switchover on 9/29 at noon.

How do I get help if I run into problems?
